Security and stability away from home

Unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (UMAs) are young people who have fled to Switzerland without their parents. They are looking for a new home and a safe environment to process traumatic experiences and build their future.

Foster families for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (UMA)

Unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (UMAs) face major challenges: They have to integrate into a new culture, language and society, far away from home and family. A stable family environment helps them to find their feet, build relationships and develop career prospects for a self-determined life. The foster family offers them security and structure, which promotes their social participation. Openness and building trust, even without a common language, are crucial for success.

ZPK supports these young people by looking for committed foster families who are willing to offer them support and guidance. Together, we help them to integrate into society and develop a perspective for their lives.

Why become a foster family for UMAs?

Foster families give UMAs the chance to find support and security in a family environment. They help these young people to come to terms with their often difficult experiences and build a stable foundation for a new life in Switzerland.

Foster families also make a valuable contribution to the integration and personal development of young people.

As a foster family, would you like to make an important contribution by accompanying a young person from a different cultural background with a backpack full of experiences?
Do you enjoy discovering new things together and questioning the old?
Do you bring understanding and patience and counter language barriers with imaginative ideas?
Would you like to open your doors and hearts?
