Future perspectives for the Kitas - Milestone is coming!
For some time now, we at familea have been pursuing a significant political path. We want to strengthen the framework conditions in our daycare centers. We are leading a committed daycare alliance in Basel. We represent over 70% of all Kita places in Basel. Together we are actively working on policy changes. We have continuously reported on progress.
Success in inflation adjustment
We had an initial success with the cost-of-living adjustment. We as familea already adjust the salary annually to inflation. From now on, the canton will support this financially.
Another important milestone ahead
On October 18, 2023, the Grand Council will decide on the SP's daycare initiative and the counterproposals of the government and the Grand Council commission.
If the political proposals in the Grand Council are successful, it would be possible to implement various improvements in the Kitas:
- More qualified professionals: Instead of internships, we could rely more on qualified professionals.
- Fair wages for daycare center employeesAn adjustment of the wages to the day structures would be possible. This would bring appreciation for the whole industry and help us to attract motivated new colleagues.
- Relief for parentsCheaper daycare places support families and promote the compatibility of family and career.
We are intensively committed to these concerns and work on various levels to achieve our goals:
- Interviews in the BaZ or BZ are planned.
- All members of the Grand Council will be targeted.
- Behind the scenes, we are lobbying the Grand Councillors.
- Social media presence
We will be very pleased if the Grand Council takes up our proposals and decides positively on October 18, 2023.
