The Allmendhaus in Basel has reopened its doors after a structural and operational renovation. The Hirzbrunnen Meeting Center Association, which was founded in November 2019 as the new sponsor of the Allmendhaus, counts among its sponsor members the parish of St. Clara, the Croatian Mission, the Reformed parish of Kleinbasel and the St. Markus Community Center Association.
On March 18, 2023, an opening party was held starting at 11 a.m., where a colorful neighborhood community came together to celebrate. In glorious sunshine, everyone enjoyed the varied catering on the newly designed outdoor area. After the official handing over of the keys (in the form of a loaf of bread), there was an opportunity to visit the newly renovated and revitalized premises of the Allmendhaus: self-service cafeteria, organic food store, senior meeting room on the ground floor, various offices and event rooms on the basement level.
The team of the familea Kita Allmendstrasse took over the children's program at the opening party of the Allmendhaus from 13:00-17:00. All three activities were very popular: make-up stand, designing and making bottons, and can tossing. The familea Kita Allmendstrasse, which will be newly opened in December 2022 on the 1st floor, had its doors open all day and met with lively interest. Alois Braun, head of the familea department, and Géraldine Bavaud, head of the daycare center, who are in charge of the daycare center, continuously welcomed curious visitors to the daycare center, showed them around and answered countless questions.
The Allmendhaus now offers numerous opportunities for meetings and events in the neighborhood. It is a place where people of different origins and generations can come together, exchange ideas and network. The opening was a complete success and gives hope that the Allmendhaus will play an important role in the neighborhood in the future.
